Long-billed Curlew, Cape Romain NWR 9-24-2006. This bird is one of the Long-billed Curlews that winters each year at Cape Romain. Members of this group are the only Long-billed Curlews that winter in South Carolina, and one of the few groups that winter in the eastern United States.

Banded Piping Plover (PIPL) from the endangered Great Lakes population. The bird was discovered with another banded Great Lakes PIPL at north Folly Beach, SC by Dr. Chris Snook on August 29, 2006.
Immature female Ruff (Reeve) discovered at the Santee Coastal Reserve during CRBO's Shorebird Identification Workshop on 4-29-2006. The bird was refound by CRBO personnel during a shorebird census on nearby South Island, SC on 5-13-06.
