Razorbill Auk (Alca torda)

Razorbills are relatives of Puffins. They nest on rocky seaside cliffs and among boulders on isolated islands. Their breeding range includes Iceland, southern Greenland, coastal regions in Canada's Maritime Provinces and parts of coastal Maine.

Razorbills regularly winter in the Canadian Maritime provinces and along the U.S. Coast south to Virginia. During incursion years, Razorbills are recorded as far south as north Florida.

This Razorbill was discovered by Craig Richard on Feb 15, 2004. The bird spent a few weeks feeding around the rock jetties at Huntington Beach State Park.
